Find the Best Location for Your Cell Phone Signal Booster AntennasIn this post we discuss how to find the best locations for your cell phone signal booster antennas in order to assure optimal system performance.

Check out this video from weBoost in which Kolton from the weBoost Customer support team demonstrates how to find the best location to install cell phone signal booster tower (outside) and device (inside) antennas.

To place a tower (or outside) antenna for optimal performance of your cell phone signal booster, you must first find out where your cell carrier’s nearest tower is located. We’ve previously done a couple of blog posts and a video explaining how to do that. Links to those are below.

Tower (Outside) Antenna Location
Once you know your carrier’s nearest cell tower location, you’re ready to find a location for your tower antenna. There are two types of tower antenna – directional and omni-directional. Here’s a video that explains their differences and the advantages of each.

For either tower antenna type, the preferred location is the roof of the building. Mounting the antenna on the roof minimizes obstacles between your location and the tower. That’s important because anything between you and the cell tower can block the signal and hinder your cell reception.

If a roof location is not an option, place the tower antenna outside the building on the wall facing the direction of the cell tower. If that’s also not possible, it may be acceptable to place the antenna on the inside of a window on the side of the building facing the tower.

Device (Inside) Antenna Location
The device antenna, sometimes called the inside antenna, should be placed the in the room or the area where you most need improved service coverage.
